Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using Macronote ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.
Description of Service
Macronote is a nutrition tracking application that allows users to log food consumption using natural language, voice input, or photos. The App provides estimated nutritional information based on various data sources and should be used for informational purposes only.
User Accounts
To use certain features of the App, you may need to create an account. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorised access
Subscriptions and Billing
Macronote requires a paid subscription to use, offered after a free trial. Subscriptions are purchased through the Apple App Store and are subject to the following terms:
- Annual — £39.99 per year, with a 7-day free trial
- Monthly — £4.99 per month, with a 3-day free trial
Prices may vary by region and are shown at the point of purchase. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account on confirmation of purchase.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your device's App Store account settings. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with App Store terms; refund requests should be directed to Apple, not to us. We may change subscription prices from time to time. Any change will apply to future billing periods, and we will notify you in advance with the option to cancel before the new price takes effect.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems
- Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality
- Upload malicious content or viruses
- Scrape or collect data from the App without permission
Nutritional Information Disclaimer
Important: The nutritional information provided by Macronote is estimated and should not be considered medical or dietary advice. Actual nutritional values may vary based on preparation methods, portion sizes, and ingredient variations. Always consult with a healthcare professional or registered dietitian for personalised dietary guidance.
Intellectual Property
The App and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Macronote and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
User Content
You retain ownership of any content you submit to the App (food entries, photos, etc.). By submitting content, you grant us a licence to use, process, and store this content to provide and improve our services.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Macronote shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of the App, including but not limited to reliance on nutritional information provided.
Termination
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your account and access to the App at our sole discretion, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties.
Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of any material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
